Kabeaushé - Hold On To Deer Life, There's A Black Boy Behind (black LP)Kabeaush once described their music as the complete opposite of the hardcore leftfield electronic sounds of their then labelmates on Nyege Nyege Tapes. And at the time that was true: the Kenyan polymaths sound on their debut album The Coming of Gaze was fiercely and single mindedly focused towards giddy pop rush, old school party hip hop upfulness, clean sounds, gentleness, bounciness, positivity and JOY. Now, though, the lines are not quite so clear.

I am so enamored with the illustrator of this book that I've taken to buying almost everything he does. The illustrations here are so cute and playful! My daughter wants to read this almost every single day. She loves to point out the bugs on the different page and we make up stories about them. She can now recognize so many bugs we when go outside and is really excited to see them in real life! She laughs at the antics of the ladybug on each page and loves that there are different animals hidden in with the bugs. Really can't say enough good things about this book. My only caution is that there aren't really a lot of words, so if you aren't comfortable ad-libbing or making up stories you may find it a bit boring. But if you make it interactive it's really fun!
