This is a very good book. It is well researched and extremely well written. It is easy to read and easy to understand. Although this book is just an overview of the Greek city-state of Sparta, it does very well cover Sparta's unique history. Learn about Sparta's rise in military fame and the battles they fought. Learn how all of Sparta trained to become the healthiest and fittest city-state in Greece. Learn about daily life for all the classes of people in Sparta, even the kings and queens. Learn how Sparta became independent and supplied everything the city-state needed. This book is well worth reading and I highly recommend it. It will be a great book to add to anyone's history shelf.
